Peniscola

We traveled to Peniscola on Saturday (6/2) which is two hours north of valencia. The drive there was full of pretty views. There were lots of mountains and little towns on the way. Here is a glimpse from the window of the bus of the mountains!

We went right to the beach when we got there and set up our towels. I bought a beach umbrella yesterday so that I would have some shade at the beach to prevent sun burn. Mom you taught me well! The water was so clear in Peniscola! There was a castle right on the beach which was beautiful.
We swam out to a buoy that was a good distance from the beach. I laid out in the middle of the Mediterranean sea and was in awe of the day I was having. Around me was a beautiful castle, the beach, city, mountains in the background and the water. It was so relaxing just laying there and taking it all in!
We ventured up to the castle and took in the view of the sea and city from high up! It was breathtaking and almost seemed unreal to me. I have been practicing my jumping pictures, here is one of me at the castle with the shore line and sea in the background!

We got a group picture with the MSU flag!

Tyler, Sara, Genna and me at the Castle.

Today (June 3) I had a chill day. I got up at 1050 to use the bathroom which was poor timing because my madre got up then too and saw that I was awake so as I passed her in the hall she told me she was making breakfast. So instead of continuing to sleep I got up to eat Toast with Jam and chat for a half hour. After breakfast I went back to my room to lay down for a bit and passed out until 230. It was good to catch up on sleep! Today was a homework day in Spain. I went to Starbucks to work with JJ and Tyler and we ran into Libby there. We were kind of productive but had no motivation to actually do work. I had to read part of a book and answer questions read a story and write two essays. I wish that it was just abroad instead of study abroad. But I am in spain so not complaining. I have class tomorrow and then I am going to to go the beach for the afternoon.

Tomorrow is my third week here in spain which is crazy! These past two weeks have been amazing. I think back to two weeks ago when our madre took us to school and we had no idea where we were going and then when we walked home by ourselves everything was unfamiliar and we were unsure of what way to go. Now I can confidently ride the bus to school, walk or take a Valenbici! I am comfortable with my host madre and brother. I know everyone on my trip from MSU. When we went to Peniscola on Saturday it felt like a vacation from home, home being my apartment in Valencia. I am so fortunate to have this experience of living in a city in Spain. I am excited for what this week will being for me!

I hope all is well with everyone who is reading this blog.
