Day 6: A week's worth of pictures all in one post!

June 12, 2013 - Caroline and I worked at the lab in the morning. We were very productive because Professor Haq gave us more details on our project which was helpful. After lunch we headed back to the lab and meet with Professor Krishinan and some women from a center for disabilities nearby. We are going to be able to help them make some improvements in their program using our technical skills. I am very excited about this opportunity! We are visiting the center tomorrow so I will know more tomorrow!
    For dinner we went to Zara The Tapas Bar. After squeezing six of us into a Ford Fiesta because there were no bigger taxis available, we found the place. The boys were supposed to be wearing pants but they gave us a warning and let us in. There was music playing and a younger crowd. This was one of the first times I have seen men and women interact which was nice to see. And it was Ladies Night so Caroline and I enjoyed three free drinks!! Finally it paid off to be a girl! It was a fun night hanging out together not on campus or in our hotel!

Now onto the pictures! I am sorry I have not been able to upload any this past week, I will try to be better in the future.

This is the view from Caroline and I room at the Ginger hotel. IIT Campus is to the right of this picture. You cant really see it from our window. Our view is better than Tim and Bob's because their window looks into a hallway and not outside.

 This is the buffet for breakfast. There is usually one kind of juice, one kind of cereal ( It is either corn flakes or coco flakes), then a kind of bread that goes in a spicy soup. Sometimes there are hard boiled eggs which I really like. And sometimes we can get eggs or dosa's to order. Very different than a breakfast at a hotel at home but we have gotten used to it.

The wall in the breakfast area has this funny cartoon on the wall. They are all white people and most of them very funny looking.

 This is the walk to the buss stop to get to the lab. The IIT campus is completely contained by walls and the wall near us was too short so they are rebuilding it. So there is construction and the temporary wall seen in this picture. To the right of this picture is the sewage treatment plant. The smell wakes us up every morning on our way to campus.

 This is a tree outside the lab. All the trees grow vertical like this with branches going every which way.

 This is where we eat on campus. It is called Tiffany's. The menu has a lot of options but most of them we don't know what they are so sometimes order something and have no idea was will come out for you.

 This is the monkey that stole my water bottle. He grabbed it right from my backpack and within minutes had it open and enjoyed my water. I had just filled it up at the lab so it was nice and full for him. Once it was half empty he picked it up off the ground and put it above his head and chugged it. All of his friends seemed to surround us after he took it too so we left the area quite quickly.

 There are deer all over campus. This picture was taken with no zoom. They hang out all over and just chill.

 Below is Caroline, Tim and I withe the mother and father of the son whose birthday it was. The mother didnt seem to smile in any of the photos. The baby was very cute though.

 I got to hold the baby! I havent held a baby in awhile. Then tim stood next to me and they were joking that we were the parents of the baby. Cant you see the resemblance? haha

 This is in the Engineering Design Courtyard. Bob, Mike and Evan work in this building now. Caroline and I have been trying out Indian clothing so we are wearing tunics and Indian pants. The lighting was poor even with the flash so its a little dark.

Thats all for now! Thursday Caroline and I are going shopping and then visiting the center for disability kids so that should be exciting!
